Gunning for the Red Shirts

I wrote the following reports in May 2010 for The Jerusalem Post from the frontlines of a bloody government crackdown on raucous demonstrators in central Bangkok, which left scores of people dead or gravely injured, including foreign journalists. Below is a photo documentary from snapshots I took of the Red Shirt protests over several weeks in 2010 — from their first rallies on through the army crackdown on their encampment at Ratchaprasong to protesters’ return to the site months later for a mass memorial to the movement’s dead and injured.
